DAV // VETERAN HOUSING
The Disabled American Veterans of Massachusetts (DAV MA) supports veterans through advocacy, benefits assistance, and housing designed to promote stability and independence. Their initiative spans transitional sober living, shared accommodations, and permanent condo-style units—such as those at the Victory Campus in Gardner and Hero and Armistice Houses in Leominster—paired with wrap-around services like claims support, counseling, and life-skills training, creating a holistic approach that helps veterans thrive in civilian life.
Transforming space into healing, sustainable homes for veterans.
The project at 3 Victory Lane is an adaptive reuse effort that thoughtfully transforms a previously underutilized building into a vibrant, inclusive space for the veteran community. The design prioritizes creating a welcoming environment that fosters connection and support for those it serves.
By incorporating biophilic design principles—such as natural materials, abundant daylight, and strong visual connections to the surrounding forested landscape—alongside sustainable strategies like energy-efficient systems, low-carbon materials, and passive design features, the project promotes healing, environmental responsibility, and a deep sense of belonging.
